New Year, Who This?
As we step into the canvas of a new year, it's been tempting to fall into the familiar embrace of clichés, the worn-out narratives of rebirth, fresh starts and resolutions (no offence at all).
However, looking back, my journey through the past year feels akin to the delicate process of gestation, a period of growth and transformation that prepares us for the emergence of something entirely new.
Much like the months leading up to childbirth, the past year, has definitely been marked by uncertainty, discomfort, and a profound sense of change. This broadens to the wider world as well - we have and continue to navigate the rise in the cost of living, we have and continue to challenge the status quo (whether it be necessary salary adjustments or improving working hours/environments), and we are somewhat tested on our resilience and adaptability in one form or the other.
The gestation period is not without its trials, and the past year has been no exception. As the year unfolded, it became a crucible for self-discovery and personal evolution, mirroring the transformative phases of pregnancy. It has been a time of introspection, as we grappled with this discomfort of change and the unknown. We've learned to find strength in vulnerability, much like the expectant parent preparing for the arrival of a child.
In the cocoon of the past, we shed old skins and embraced our growing pains. We faced the pains of labour as we navigated societal shifts, global challenges, and personal transformations. There is no better moment for continued collective growth than the emergence of a new era, new year, or new life.
The New Year breaks, the contractions of the past have brought us to this moment of transition. We have carried with us, the wisdom gained through the trials of gestation, standing together on the threshold of birth. This process is a collective effort; the challenges we are facing are not unique to any one person but rather a shared experience that unites us in our humanity. The new year presents us with the opportunity to foster connections, to build communities that support and uplift each other as we continue to prepare for and manoeuvre through the uncertainties that lie ahead.
May we approach the future with the same resilience and courage that guides a parent through childbirth. Step into the new year not as passive spectators, but as active participants in the continuous cycle of growth and renewal.
Peaceful New Year <3
Be Kind.
